 Workshop on Bodo Folk Music


Description: The Workshop on �Bodo Folk Music� organized by BSLA (Bodo Students Literary Association) in collaboration with the Department of Bodo was formally started from 13th March, 2023 and lasted for 3 months up to 15th June, 2023. Dr. Prasanta Rabha, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese was invited to inaugurate the Workshop which was taken place in front of the Auditorium of B.H. College, Howly. On that day Sailendra Kakati, HOD of the Economics Department of B.H. college also attended the inaugural session of the Workshop as invited guest. Both of them in their inaugural speech emphasized to keep passing on traditional knowledge with all cultural values generation to generation for the sake of their own identity while addressing the student community. In the long period of three months of the Workshop participants are taught the arts and skills of playing various musical instruments of Bodos like-siphung (flute), Kham (Bodo Drum), Serja (Violin like traditional musical instrument), jotha (cymbal), thorkha, etc. The students, who have participated in the Workshop, today, they can play the traditional musical instruments as well, as a result of the same. The knowledge and skills provided through the Workshop will make positive impact on students� future lives.
