 World Environment Day_5 June 2024


Description: On June 5th, 2024 at 11:30 AM, B. H. College, Howly, held a program in the seminar hall to celebrate World Environment Day. The event was organized by the Science Forum in collaboration with the Assam Physical Society. Dandeswar Deka, Secretary of the Science Forum, orchestrated the program and explained the aim of the event in the context of this year's theme: "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience." Principal Dr. B.C. Pathak praised the initiatives taken by the forum and urged students to work towards a pollution-free world by conserving our environment. Following this, Dr. Chitralekha Talukdar, Invited Speaker and President of the Assam Physical Society, explained the need for environmental conservation and outlined various conservation processes. In her excellent address, Dr. Talukdar appealed to the student community to actively participate in environmental work. She advised students to be polite, respect their seniors and teachers from other streams, and limit mobile phone usage. She emphasized the importance of good health, urging students to get up early and maintain good health to serve the nation effectively. She also discussed optics, explaining different optical rays such as lasers, their effects and their benefits to humans and the environment. The vote of thanks was offered by Seema Khakhalary, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, who beautifully concluded the event. The program saw the participation of 100 students along with most of the Science Teachers, making it a grand success.
