 Observation of National Science Day on 28th February, 2017


Description: ‘The Science Forum’, B. H. College, Howly observed National Science Day with a day long programme and also published new edition of wall magazines of the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany and Statistics on 28th February, 2017. The magazines were inaugurated by Prof. Kulendra Dev Mishra, Retired Professor, Department of Chemistry, M. C. College, Barpeta at 12.30 PM. Prof. Mishra was also associated with different social activities. After inauguration of the magazines a meeting was held in room no. 18 at 1.15 PM. Dr. Suruchi Singh, Secretary, The Science Forum started the programme stating the aims and objectives of the programme with a warm welcome to all present in the meeting. Prof. Mishra started his speech stating the significance of the day and highly appreciated the forum for conducting such type of programme in the college. He also appreciated and encouraged students associated with the wall magazines. In his lecture, he explained the rich culture of India stating that during 6th century India was very rich in science education in comparison to the neighbouring countries. But, now India is lagging behind in science and technology as compared to developed countries like China, Japan, U.K., Russia, U.S.A. etc. He urged the student community to pay attention into this matter and do hard work for uplifting our country in science and technology. After his speech, he declared the results of competition of wall magazines and gave away the prizes to the winners. Department of Botany begged the 1st prize while Departments of Mathematics and Statistics begged the 2nd & 3rd prizes respectively. The themes of the magazines were 1. Botany : Cell, 2. Mathematics : How to learn Mathematics, 3. Statistics : Demonitization, 4. Physics : Black Hole – the Expanding Universe, 5. Chemistry : Chemistry in Human Body and 6. Zoology : Biodiversity, its importance and effect on living world. In the programme, Dr. B. C. Pathak, Principal, B. H. College, Howly cum President, The Science Forum, Dr. Sultan Ali Ahmed, Co-ordinator, IQAC, B. H. College, and all the teachers and students of the science stream were present. The programme was ended by the vote of thanks offered by the Secretary of the Forum.
