 World Environment Day, 2019


Description: On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’, 5th June, ‘The Science Forum’, B. H. College, Howly organized a programme in the Seminar Hall at 2 PM. Dr. Suruchi Singh, Secretary, ‘The Science Forum’ conducted the programme where Bappi Nath ( B.Sc. 6th Sem, Zoology Major) explained the aims and objectives of the programme with a warm welcome to all present in the meeting. Prof. Mishra started his speech stating the significance of the day and highly appreciated the forum for conducting such type of programme in the college. Dr. Nabajit Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology was invited for talk on the occasion, and he was felicitated by a Phulam Gamocha and a Variegated Snake Plant (which is one of the plants declared by NASA as the best indoor air purifying plant). The gift of the plant matched with the theme of ‘World Environment Day’,2019 which was ‘To Beat air Polution’. Dr. N. Das, in his speech, addressed the students with a ppt presentation on the photography taken by him during his research work. In his talk, he explained how to take a good photograph and how to become expertise in photography. He also highlighted and shared his research experience on Bengal Slow Loris on which he was awarded PhD degree by Gauhati University. During research, Dr. N. Das was engaged in many multinational projects in the areas where this species were found. He inspired the students to be active, sincere, dedicative and vocal. Dr. N. Das beared a excellent carrier with some international paper publications along with presentation of international papers in conferences, seminars etc. He received research fellowship in Oxford University. He visited many countries as invited speaker and expert. He has been working as a Research Associate of Primate Research Centre, N.E. India, Guwahati. On the occasion, few students of B.Sc. 6th Sem of Zoology Major of the year 2019 ( Bappi, Nizara, Pavel, Shikha and Shilpa) donated saplings to ‘The Science Forum’ and the same were planted in the B. H. College campus as a mark of ‘World Environment Day’.
