The department has a well academic tract record producing more than240 graduates, among them DaminiKothari became the university topper in 2006 when she got 1st class 1st position in B.Sc. final exam. In the same year JuriUzir also got 1st class 4th position in the same examination. Rashmi Husniwara Rahman occupied 4th position in B.Sc. final examination in 2016. Beauty Rani Basumatary got 1st class 2nd position in B. Sc. final examination in 2022, Salma Akhtar a student of 2020 batch got 1st class 1stin M.Sc. final examination under Gauhati University in 2022. The department have well equipped laboratory along with necessary facilities. The faculty members are well qualified and involve in various activities of the institution in addition to departmental works. There is a departmental library having about 400 books issued regularly to the students.

VISION

The vision of the department is to motivate the students to enrich their knowledge about the secretes of life sciences and to make the students to understand the inter relation of plant science with the environment and other living organisms. To gathered knowledge from microorganisms to higher plants and their inter relationships, and the new branches of botany along with different tools used in plant science, environmental pollutions and control measuresetc.

MISSION

The mission of the department is to impart knowledge in plant sciences and its different branches of botany like biotechnology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, taxonomy, genetics, ecology etc. through teaching and learning techniques.By providing knowledge of applied botany aimed to making the students entrepreneurs in this field.
