About Career Guidance Cell

The Career Guidance Cell of B.H. College, Howly was formed in 2013 with a view to provide the students with necessary guidance, counsel and resources to face the professional world after the completion of their education. It serves as a bridge between academic learning and career planning, aiming to equip students with skills and knowledge to make informed career decisions.
The main objectives of the Career Guidance Cell are as follows:
1. To create awareness among students about career opportunities.
2. To take steps towards skill development such as communication, problem solving and soft skills through workshops and programmes.
3. To provide interpersonal counseling sessions by people with experience in professional fields.
4. To hold programmes which guide and mentor students for state and national level competitive examinations.
5. To build linkages with employers and create an environment which supports campus recruitment.
Structure and Administration:
The Career Guidance Cell shall consist of 1 Co-ordinator and 9 Faculty members.
• The Co-ordinator shall oversee, manage and report all the activities of the Career Guidance Cell.
• The Members of the Career Gidance Cell shall be responsible for smooth execution of specific programmes such as workshops, counseling, etc.
• The Career Guidance Cell shall meet periodically to discuss the prospective programmes to be organised, follow up of the previous programmes and other relevant matters. The proceedings of such meetings shall be uploaded on the website.
Conclusion:
The Career Guidance Cell of B.H. College, Howly aims to ensure that the students have the right awareness about the possible career opportunities after they complete their studies through a structured approach to career counseling and skill development.

College, Howly gave a detail overview about how to reply to certain questions asked in an interview, dress code, sitting style, how to enter, how to explain briefly about self, how to prepare the CV, Resume and Bio-data, etc. this session is utmost important for the students after completion of the master degree course and also to bring the confidence level for face-to-face interview.Around 120 students participated and they are being benefited.

One Day career Counselling Programme on the Opportunities and Challenges of Future ProgressionThe Department of Education organized a programme on Career Counselling Programme on the Opportunities and Challenges of Future Progression in collaboration with Career Counseling Cell, B.H.College, on 30th May, 2023 for the students of Honours and P.G at seminar hall. Students from 6th semester and 2nd semester took part in the programme. Dr. Chavan Kr. Sarmah, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics B.H.College, served as the Resource Person of the programme.

College, Howly In Collaboration with Bhadra AcademyA Students Awareness Programme was organised by the Students’ Counselling cum Career Guidance Cell, B.H. College, Howly In Collaboration with SBI Life, BarpetaA Recruitment Drive was organised by Students’ Counselling cum Career Guidance Cell, B.H. College, Howly in collaboration with S.B.I Life, Barpeta for the recruitment of Insurance Agents. The representatives of S.B.I. Life expressed their interest to the Principal, B.H. College, Howly to conduct a recruitment drive in the college and accordingly a Walk in Interview was organised in which 39 students participated.
The representatives of S.B.I. Life were satisfied with the performance of some of the participants of the interview and were looking forward to meeting them in further rounds of their recruitment.

College, Howly In Collaboration with Mahendra’s, GuwahatiA Three Day Awareness cum Training Programme for Grade III & Grade IV Job Aspirants was organised by The Students’ Counselling Training and Placement Cell, B.H. College, Howly with a view to inspire an mentor the aspirants to appear in Government examinations.
The Programme began in the presence of Dr. Bhushan Chandra Pathak, esteemed resource persons from Mahendras Educational Private Limited, the members of the Students’ Counselling Training and Placement Cell, B.H. College, Howly and the aspirants.
A total of 32 students participated in the programme and experienced insightful and practical sessions on the subjects of English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning

College, Howly In Collaboration with Mahendra’s, GuwahatiA Career Guidance Seminar was organised by Students’ Counselling, Training and Placement Cell, B.H. College, Howly in collaboration with Mahendra’s, Guwahati on 11/03/2024 for the purpose of providing knowledge about practical career aspects after graduation.
The Seminar was chaired by Dr. Bhushan Ch. Pathak, Principal, B.H. College, Howly and the Resource Person for the seminar was Mrs. Kanika Deka, State Executive Officer, Mahendra’s Educational Private Limited.
132 students were present in the meeting and gained insightful knowledge about the possibility of diverse career paths after graduation.

College, Howly organised an interactive Seminar on the topic “Civil Services Preparation (APSC/UPSC) And Other Government Examinations on 08/04/2024.
The Resource Persons for the Seminar were Mr. Rajdeep Lekhru, Director, CSAP IAS Academy and Mr. Abhijit Rajbongshi, Faculty, CSAP IAS Academy. 222 students participated in the seminar and attained important knowledge about how to strategise for civil service examinations, the types of materials that they should refer, the manner in which they should approach the examination.

Counselling Programme on career objectives after graduationThe Students' Counselling, Training and Placement Cell organised a Counselling Programme on "Career Objectives after Graduation" for the undergraduate students of B.H. College, Howly on 28/04/2023. Manish Kiling, Asssistant Professor, Dept of Commerce, B.H. College Howly was the Resource Person for the session. He provided useful knowledge about the practical opportunities available after graduation and how the students should pursue their objectives. 52 students participated in the programme aimed at clarifying the objectives of the students which they should pursue with after completion of their graduation.

An Interactive Session with Sjt. Hemen Das, IASAn Interactive Session with Sjt. Hemen Das, IAS was organised on 06/06/2022 under the aegis of English Literary Society, Dept. of English, B.H. College, Howly. The Programme started with the assumption of chair by Dr. Bhushan Ch. Pathak, Principal, B.H. College, Howly who then felicitated Sjt. Hemen Das, IAS (Chief Guest of the Programme). Sjt. Ranjit Bhuyan, Vice Principal, B.H. College, Howly, Dr. Dipmani Das, HoD, Dept. of English, B.H. College, Howly also assumed their seats on the dais. This was followed by Welcome Speech by Dr. Bhushan Ch. Pathak, Principal, B.H. College, Howly and song by Namrata Parashar.
Sjt. Hemen Das shared his precious experiences of his life and interacted with the students and enriched them with useful insights.
The Programme was wrapped up after a customary Vote of Thanks.

Joint Meeting with Vidyarthi PointA Joint Meeting was held on 23/09/2019 between the Students' Counsellling, Training and Placement Cell with Vidyarthi Point for the purpose of counselling Civil Service Aspirants. Vidyarthi Point expressed their interest to establish a linkage through the college to provide online courses and study materials to Civil Service Aspirants among the students of B.H. College, Howly.

College, Howly on 4th October, 2023 at 12:30 P.M . Dr. Nijara Rajbonshi , Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics Bhattadev University , Bajali acted as a resource person . This programme was held in the seminar hall of the college. Dr. Nijara Rajbonshi gave a valuable talk on importance of studying statistics for the degree students . She highlighted the different avenues available for statistics graduates. Her talk also highlights the higher studies available and different job prospects for the students after graduating by taking statistics as an honours subject. Her lucid and resourceful talk benefitted the students a lot.
