2024-11-17 | FIELD STUDY- 2024 | In order to create scientific temper among students, the Department of Botany conducted field study every year. Apart from this, this practice will also inculcate research habit among students. On 17th November, 2024, the Department of Botany conducted a field study to Diplai Beel, Kokrajhar. The studnets participants interacted in a very well disciplined manner and cooperated well with the teachers guides. They observed and collected plant samples to deposit them in Department of Botany for future reference. Mr. Promod Chandra Borah, Dr. Purabi Sarmah Baruah and Dr. Seema Khakhalary co-ordinated the tour.
2024-11-13 | DEPARTMENTAL SEMINAR-2024 | The Department of Botany organized a departmental seminar every year for the students of B. Sc 5th semester. On 13th November, 2024 , the departmental seminar was conducted for 5th semester students in the college seminar hall. Students presented thier seminar topics of thier choice as per the CBCS syllabus. The objectives of conducting the seminar is to check thier understanding of specific topics within thier field of study through presentations, discussions and question & answer sessions. Presentations and Discussions provide a platform for receiving constructive feedback from teachers helping studnets refine their knowledge and presentation skills. Presenting in infront of an audience helps students overcome nervousness and build self confidence.
2024-08-16 | Generation of QR code and pasting on trees | The Department of Botany, B.H. College, Howly generated QR Code for each plant species available in our college campus. Students can get details about the plant species by scanning the QR Code with their smart phone. QR code provides users an instant access to tree information which includes common names, scientific name, classification up to species level as well as medicinal uses and other relevant details.
2024-07-03 | ADD-ON-CERTIFICATE COURSE "MUSHROOM CULTIVATION" | The department of Botany conducted examination (both theory and practical examination) for ADD-ON-CERTIFICATE COURSE "Mushroom Cultivation" of 50 marks on 1st July, 2024 as per the syllabus. A test was taken to test the knowledge and skills by the students. Certificate will be issued on the basis of the test.
2024-05-11 | Institutional Visit to Bodoland University | The department of Botany conducted an institutional visit to Bodoland University, Kokrajhar on 11th May, 2024 for B. Sc 6th sem (Honours) and B. Sc 4th sem (Honours) students. A total of 38 students were participated in the trip. All the faculty members including Head of the department co ordinated the visit. Dr. Sandeep Das, Professor and Head, Department of Biotechnology , Bodoland University gave us a warm welcome. He introduced us and gave an overview to every staff in his laboratory. He also delivered a detail lecture on "Mushroom and its Cultivation technique". Mr. Sibo Boro and Miss Debjani Das (Ph. D Research Scholar) showed different instruments and experiments to our students. They gave a quick explanations on uses and principle of various instruments like HPLC, SEM, PCR, Electrophoresis, Autoclave, Hot Air Oven, Western Blot, ELISA Reader etc. Students were really motivated and inspired to pursue research. We appreciate Dr. Sandeep Das and his Research Scholar of valuable time given to us.
